ADM expands animal nutrition footprint in Asia

The US agribusiness group said the new mill, along with existing ADM feed production facilities in Cebu and Bulacan, will enhance the company’s ability to support customer growth in the region, through a wide range of pet food, complete feed, aquaculture, and premix solutions.

Furthermore, the investment will support economic development through the creation of more than 100 new jobs in the region, it added.

“This acquisition provides us with an exceptional opportunity to continue to strengthen and expand our robust portfolio of high-quality feed products using our recognized brands, such as Ultrapak, Evialis and Ocialis,” said Gerald Wilflingseder, president, ADM Animal Nutrition, Asia Pacific.

He told us production at that new location will be 70% swine feed focused and the remaining volumes dedicated to poultry feed manufacture.

Building a presence in Asia

The acquisition of the South Sunrays Milling Corporation mill expands ADM’s already sizeable footprint and long history in the region, continued the representative.

In the Philippines, alone, Wilflingseder noted that ADM has over 800k mt production capacity including that of its tolling partners.

In 2021, ADM expanded its premix offerings in Vietnam with the acquisition of Golden Farm Production & Commerce Company Limited, invested in a new Wisium Premix line in the Philippines, and acquired the remaining 40% shareholding of Invivo Sanpo in China.

Asked which animal production segment is proving the most robust in the Philippines, Wilflingseder said that, as pork is the dominant animal protein in that market, swine production in Central and South Philippines remains dynamic.
