Biden signs big cat bill backed by ‘Tiger King’ star Carole Baskin outlawing cub-petting, private ownership

The cub-petting business, which received nationwide infamy with the sensational 2020 Netflix documentary, “Tiger King,” is now illegal in the United States. 

President Biden on Tuesday signed the Large Cat Community Basic safety Act into regulation, which bans the personal possession of lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, cougars, or any cross-species hybrids of these animals. It makes the exercise of cub-petting illegal and prohibits the breeding of big cats for private possession. It also prohibits users of the community from getting close get in touch with with big cats, outlawing the exercise of using selfies next to cubs, for occasion. 

Federally licensed animal sanctuaries or zoos could nonetheless exhibit large cats. There is also a grandfather clause that permits people who currently possess a large cat to preserve them as extended as the animal is registered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 180 days.
