The most adaptable of all significant cats, they occupy diverse habitats at all altitudes across Africa and Asia. Like black jaguars, melanistic leopards are called black panthers. In some African cultures, leopards are regarded to be far better hunters than lions.

The ghost of the mountains, this smokey-grey cat lives higher than the snow line in Central and South Asia. The most elusive of all big cats, it are unable to roar, and has the longest tail of them all — which comes in useful for harmony while searching alongside the cliffs, and also provides heat when wrapped close to the overall body. The snow leopard is the condition animal of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
Puma
Closely linked to the domestic cat, this genus has only just one extant species, the cougar.

This is a unique genus in the cat relatives, with only one living member, the cheetah.

The swiftest land mammal, the cheetah is the only cat without retractable claws — the grip allows it accelerate a lot quicker than any sporting activities car (-100 km/hr in 3 seconds).
