Celine’s dog accessories are inspired by Hedi Slimane’s own canine companion
A new collection from Celine combines the house’s mastery of leather work with the necessities of dog ownership – from leashes to dog bowls – captured in a Hedi Slimane-shot campaign starring the creative director’s pet dog, Elvis
Titled ‘Portrait of a Celine Dog’, Hedi Slimane’s latest campaign for Celine marks the arrival of an unexpected new muse – the creative director’s own beloved canine companion, Elvis.
The Slimane-shot images also mark the arrival of a luxurious array of dog and saddlery accessories from the French house – the first collection of its kind under his tenure – combining Celine’s near-unrivalled mastery of leather-craft with the functional necessities of dog ownership. (Indeed, as is typical of the French designer’s singular vision, Slimane originally designed the collection with his own dog’s needs in mind.)

The various accessories span dog bowls – evocative of traditional luggage, they come embedded in a lambskin-covered box with elegant tan calfskin handles – leashes of various widths, studded dog collars, a clip-on wallet for dog bags and treats, and even a rubber toy in the shape of the house’s ‘Triomphe’ monogram (a truly luxurious take on the classic ‘chew toy’). This ‘Triomphe’ motif reoccurs throughout the collection, appearing on signature printed lambskin and canvas – allowing accessories to be matched with handbags and leather goods from the house’s existing offering – as well as embossed on silver medallions which decorate each of the various collars, ready to be engraved with your own dog’s name.
Despite a canine focus, cat owners needn’t feel left out: feeding bowls and collars can be equally enjoyed across species, while new versions of the house’s ‘Voyage’ carryall – crafted from ‘Triomphe’ canvas with tan lambskin trimmings – come printed with either ‘Cat’ or ‘Dog’ in Celine’s signature sans-serif typography. These, alongside the rest of the collection, will be available for purchase this coming June at the house’s 40 New Bond Street London store and the Celine website. §
