FRAmelco B.V. becomes Adisseo NL B.V.

In December 2020, the FRAnklin Group (FRAmelco, Sustainable Nutrition, FRAnklin Asia) was acquired by the Bluestar Adisseo Company. With its integration into the Adisseo family, a formal name change from FRAmelco B.V. to Adisseo NL B.V., will take place on 1 September 2022.

Innovad acquires Scentarom

As part of the ambitious growth strategy in sustainable and natural solutions, and to add capacity to support the growth in feed palatability and essential oil products, Innovad Group has acquired Scentarom, a developer and manufacturer of feed flavours and fragrances.

Nutreco calls on young academics to enter Young Researchers Prize

Applications to Nutreco’s 2022 Young Researchers Prize are now open to all PhD students and post-doctorate researchers in their first and second year of study working in animal nutrition, livestock production, aquaculture and veterinary sciences research. The award challenges young academics from across the world to showcase their innovative solutions for sustainable and environmentally-conscious farming practices, with 3 winners receiving a total of €25,000 in prize money to further their research. Submissions will be judged on how well they address at least one of the following challenges facing the industry: novel ingredients, antimicrobial resistance and the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Evonik resumes production of Mepron Alabama

Evonik has resumed operations at its Mepron plant in Mobile, Alabama in the US, meaning it will once again supply the US milk and dairy markets from a local source. Mepron, which is based on the essential amino acid DL-methionine, is marketed as a special formulation which prevents degradation in the rumen, enabling amino acid balancing of dairy rations to realise reductions of CO2 emissions and nitrogen excretion. Evonik began local Mepron production in Mobile in 2015 at one of three world-scale DL-methionine production hubs of the Animal Nutrition business.

ADM acquires feed mill in the Philippines

ADM has announced the acquisition of a feed mill in Polomolok, South Cotabato in the Philippines, from South Sunrays Milling Corporation, increasing the company’s regional production capacity. The mill supports the company with the production of a range of pet food, complete feed, aquaculture, and premix solutions.

Perstorp to be acquired by Petronas

Specialty chemicals company, Perstorp Group, is to be acquired by Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad. The acquisition values Perstorp Group at an enterprise value of €2.3 million.

Feed Safety Hazards micro-learning by GMP+ Academy

The Collective Knowledge Program partners have developed a series of microlearning modules on feed safety culture. The 2nd microlearning centres around ‘feed safety hazards’ and is now available at GMP+ Academy. Each micro-learning module shares basic knowledge about animal feed and lasts no more than 10 minutes and aims to inspire anyone who works in the feed industry to take feed safety into account and to consciously contribute to their organisations’ feed safety cultures through various exercises, cases and examples.

Adisseo & Entobel partner on alternative insect protein

Adisseo and Entobel have initiated an R&D collaboration to better understand and enhance insect rearing performance and the nutritional requirements of the Black Soldier Fly. They will focus on the performance of the insects and the quality of this protein meal, prioritizing the way to control the ingredients used to feed insects, and their complementarities with the most important feed additives, like methionine and enzymes.

Cloudfarms and Suisag launch application

Together with Swiss Suisag, Cloudfarms has introduced an application, the Pig Passport, to enable breeding and production farms and processors to register and analyse production data of each individual pig from birth to processing. Data contains information such as genetic pedigree, feed consumption and health via an electronic ear tag.
